Hi experts,

TLDR version: Can an AsRock Z170 Gaming K6+ Skylake ATX Motherboard run a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti card?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B012D7H3RU/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Longer version:
Got a good deal on a 4k monitor but naturally my older 960 GTX cards running on SLI cannot handle much above 1080p.

Current set up is:
CPU : quad core i7-6700 3.4GHz
MB: AsRock Z170 Gaming K6+ Skylake
Mem: 16 GB DDR4 2400 (2 x 8gb)
GPU: 2 x ASUS STRIX-GTX 960-DC2OC-2GD5 2 GB (on SLI)

Aim is to run full 4k (e.g. FPS) games at medium to high config settings.

Do you think I can slot in a single 1080 TI card to replace the current dual SLI 960 GTX, without needing to replace CPU, memory and motherboard? The card will physically fit but I cant find if the VRAM for the motherboard will limit the card's performance.
Thanks very much!

Solution
There is no vram on a motherboard (apart from dedicated ram for an iGPU). The card will fit and work fine. The mobo will not limit the GPU, but the CPU can. Get a little OC on the CPU going. Push the GTX1080ti as far as you can go. At 4k it should fair well. A new coffeelake CPU like 8600k/8700k with much higher stock and turbo clocks would push extra FPS from the GTX1080ti.
