[SOLVED] Nvidia 1650 4gb in i5 xps 8300

Hi all,
I have bought a second graphics card for my son, to go in the build I'm attempting for Xmas.
I was advised to get the 1650.
I have put in the pc but now blank screen and a single beep every 10 secs or so.
Do I need to install a driver or something
Please help !

I was advised by a nice chap on this site to go for a gtx 1650 to go with the xps 8300.
I have followed his advice and have got as far as....
The screen comes on and shows the dell logo, it then goes off completely.
Cannot enter boot menu or anything.
Please help its nearly Xmas 🙏

I am fairly sure (not 100% sure) that a 16-series card will not work on the XPS 8300. The 10- series will, but most of what I've read says the 16-series cards won't.

That said, I have found a set of instructions here, but I can't say personally whether those steps will work or not.

In the same thread, this post offers a slightly different set of steps.

I will definitely try them as this is the 2nd card I've been told to buy (cry)
Can I ask one more thing?
I am on bios a06, when it says copy bios settings in the post, what does that mean?

There is a 1050 ti going on ebay shortly.
Do you think that will definitely plug and play?

As long as it physically fits in the case, there should be no problem. A quick search shows that people have successfully used the GTX 1070 on the XPS 8300, so the 1050Ti should be fine as well.
