(Nvidia 295 GTX) Okay... uhm, i have decided to go for that card, since i'm not much into Crossfire with ATI, and the other way around 2 expensive to SLI with Nvidia :)

And the card alone outsmarts both 4870x2 and 4890x2 :) except if u use 2xxx resolution, which i don't...

The problem for me is to decide which "model" of the Nvidia 295 GTX i should get... which retailer...

There must be a difference? I lined them after price, 1 = cheapest. then the price's going up.

Is there any difference on the cards? i did think of Asus, since i know them.. and XFX.. but they're like

(1) Gainward GTX295 (1.792 GB)

(2) Colorful Technology GeForce GTX 295 (Detailsalg) (1792 MB)

(3) Club 3D GTX 295 (1.75 GB)

(4) ASUS ENGTX295/2DI/1792MD3 (1.75 GB)

(5) Inno3D GeForce GTX 295 Platinum Edition (Detailsalg) (1792 MB)

(6) MSI N295GTX-2D1792 (1.75 GB)

(7) ZOTAC GeForce GTX 295 (1.792 GB)

The same card actually Varies like 100 $ :S

Like the highest is about.. 640$ or so... and the cheapest 545 $ and that's rather confusing... I doubt the price's all?

Ehm, All benchmarks prove that 295's beat 4890 :) except in 1... all game scores, farcry/crysis... all the big titles have a much larger number than those 2... + they require a HUGE Psu :p

^ not dual 4890's versus a single GTX 295, the 4890's wins by Miles.

The GTX 295 is two GTX 275 GPU's with a lowered clock stuck on one PCB, and it turns out internal SLI isn't as good as external SLI. (dual GTX 275's beat the GTX 295) Also AMD's CF drivers are quite a bit better than Nvidia's SLI drivers.

And because of the drivers the 4890's are equal to GTX 285's in SLI in most games, and beats them in others.

Hm, do you have some links, so i can check for myself o:?

Cuz all i've seen compare 2x 4890's with Nvidias 295... is below when it's around 1920/1200 screen resolution

Ofc, but 2 x 4890 is the same price as 1 295.. so that's not odd, they'd win.. since that'd be like what.. 4 Gpus :p?

^ $200 x2 = $400, not $500.

and it's 2 GPU's, not 4 since there is no 4890 X2.

edit: also, on this kind of graphics budget, it would make a bit more sense to get dual 5870/90's when they come out, but that would depend on your current setup, so could you list the CPU, mobo, monitor and PSU

Well i was talkin' bout Nvidia 295 in SLI, 2 of those cards... aint they like... 2 x 275s in 1? which means 1 295 has 2 GPUs already, i could be mistaken..

And yeah, but i've just heard so much bullshit bout' ATI lately, that i'm not sure wether to get the new Vapor-X 4890 (2Gig) card x 2... or the 295 from Asus... both setups will be extremely nice... :(

^ the 2gig card isn't worth it, just get a 1GB card for $200.

and if you're down to GTX 295 or dual 4890's, dual cards look better in the case and they perform better.

although the 5870 setup would beat both of those by a fair margin for about $500-600, while releasing less heat, using less power and gaining DX11.

Well those cards im looking at.. is 1.750 Danish krs. pr card... which is bout.. ehm 318 $ bucks for 1 and i want 2? and Nvidia 295 GTX = 636$ :)

So it's a price differ.. of like... 0? xD

You prolly look at the old 4890... which's bout 254 pr card...

In Denmark Hardware's rather expensive.

Well, if i'm going for 4890s setup... it's bout' the same price anyhow? ... 254 is like the cheapest o; and i can get a 295 for the same as 2 of them... o: that's why im in doubt, so how and why do u think it's a waste of money?

I do not like to see the statement ‘wins by Miles’ when the performance difference is less than 10% :fou: :fou: :fou:

How exactly is it the same price?

GTX 295 - 499.99
HD 4890 - 199.99

199 X 2 = 399.98

In Denmark they do not cost 200 :) but 254, depending on which 1 of them i'm going for...

Well my specc's not that impressive atm:

Q6600 (2.4Ghz Dual core)
2x2 Gigs DDR2 800 @ 1000 of ram, since i'm not using D10 and Vista, waiting for W7 in october, i will get 8gigs tho...
Asus Motherboard, P5K SE.
PSU, 750W
750Gb HD.

And then which should i get? :)

I would get an X48 mobo while they're cheap, along with a Corsair H50.

then chuck in the two 4890's or 5870's, overclock the processor to 3.6GHz+, then off you go.

and what make is your PSU?

LC Power Metatron PROPHECY LC8750 V2.2 750w :)

Hm, it's getting expensive all the sudden :p just bought the Psu... for like 130$ or so... then 2 x 4890 will be... approximately 500 bucks? and a new Mobo will be another what :p?
