I've had a Dell Precision M6600 for years. It has 2920xm processor, 16 gigs of ram and a Nvidia 5010 graphics card. It always closes with the Blue Screen of death and I am never able to use cuda processing with Premiere, (Nvidia and Dell have both tried to fix it) but I love the feel of the keyboard and laptop weight so I bought another one for $300 that has 32gigs of ram and a slower processor and a Nvidia 4000 graphics card and it is SLOW.
Fry's told me I can NOT put the faster processor in the 6600 I just bought, and that the 4000 is a better card for video editing anyway. They also told me I CAN take the solid state drives out of my old 6600 and just put them in the newer one? Really? Software doesn't know the difference?
So my questions are is the 4000 better for video editing? Can I really just remove my solid state drives from the one and pop them into the other with no issues? If so I can save myself $40 because even I can do that. Thanks.
