Hi all,

Well i'm having terrible problems with my graphics card. It's running
games so slow it's a joke. I've got a 5600XT nvidia card, together
with a P4 3ghz, and 512mb (400mhz) Ram. I've all the latest driver and
bios updates, for windows XP, nvidia and the motherboard AGP drivers.
The motherboard is a SiS-648FX.

I have the latest direct X drivers as well.

I've run 3Dmark03 and i get 1295 as the highest!!! Thats less than
half of what others are getting with similar specs! I've been playing
Planetside and even on 800x600 with medium settings and some things
like shadows turned off, it still drops down to 20fps outside,
although inside it never drops that low.

i've made sure it's set to 8x AGP and searched the net high and low
for any details about conflicts between my gfx card and mobo.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?
Thanks in Advance.

Max

I read recently the "XT" is a bad thing when it comes to Nvidia cards. It
has something to do with lower clockspeeds.

HO! stop there!

5600XT you say... well that is your problem! A true 64-bits memory bus
carying miracle of a card. It's even slower as an FX5200 NU with 128bits
memory bus!

Yup that is the problem, replace that POS card with a suitable card and off
you go!

.... that only counts for the 5900XT ....

The 5600XT even is worse by carying only HALF the memory bandwidth due to
64-bits memory bus!

Oh yeah, thats it. I remember now. The old 64bit vs 128bit thing too.
Thanks :)

With everyone have already suggested.
This is my brand new shiny ¼ cent of a penny for you.
Try to unload unnecessary process - like utils / TSR - AV / SpamBlocker
etc.... Close any task that you do not need.

CapFusion,...
