Hi I have been looking into buying a gaming laptop and I have mostly brought my ideal options down to the MSI ge70 2oe or the MSI gt70 2oc. The main difference between these is that the ge70 has a 765m gpu while the gt70 has a 770m. I haveseen the benchmarks which do put the 770 higher than the 765 but on average the fps is only 20% more on the 770m. I was wondering if that maybe 10 fps difference would even be visible between the two computers, also if the 765m would be able to play the newest games on high settings for at least a few years vs. if the 770m would. The gt70 is also over 2 pounds heavier than the ge70 but that does not matter too much but it would be nice f it was a little more portable.

Oh also the ge70 is 12gb with a blue ray drive, while the gt70 is8gb with a cd drive. They are only 60 dollars apart so money is fine. Also reccomend any other similar laptop.

Thanks

I have an ASUS G750JX with the 770M. You can find a variant of it (G750JX-TB71) with 16 GB of RAM and a Blu Ray Drive from Tiger Direct for $1499 US. The lower RAM/DVD drive shouldn't be a deal breaker over the GPU unless you really intend to watch blu ray movies on the go (Most games don't eat up enough RAM *yet* to make 12 GB necessary)

The 770M is about 15-20% faster depending on the game. 10-15 fps difference is visible, and two years down the line, the 770M will have aged better than the 765 will have. Right now I'm playing Battlefield 3 on Ultra just fine with no framerate lag on it, if that gives you any idea of how well the 770 performs.
