"Nvidia opposes the move, saying it will encourage Chinese companies to find alternatives to American technology,"

The fact that DeepSeek V3 (a rando Chinese private company nobody has heard of) can produce a more high performing model than GPT-4o and Claude Sonnet, at 1/10th of the compute costs, using a few hundred older sanctioned H800 GPUs , and on a shoe-string budget, just proves that these think-tankers have no clue how technology works. These sanctions will never work. US should consider try to ban the laws of physics and breathing air in China, that would show them /s.
