I'd agree with OMG, on the whole the GTX470 is above the HD5850 and below the HD5870, recent drivers have improved it's positioning.

Also mj, 3Dmark is a useless benchmark and doesn't reflect overall performance. The GTX 480 is not weaker than the HD5870 either.

Chris even draws attention to that in the review;
"While many of our readers like to see these numbers, they’re not necessarily representative of real-world performance."
