I think government spending of those tax dollars accounts for more money than failing to get a hundred or so billion. It's like complaining that you're losing a couple dollars on your paycheck while you're blowing 500 dollars a month on "premium air" for your BMW tires.

This is why there should be mandatory basic financial education in high school. You just have to use the magic words tax avoidance , reducing tax basis, and especially "loophole" and you have all the idiots protesting in the street. This is even true for people that put money into a 401k. They seem to forget they are now the "rich" guy using the 401k loophole to avoid taxes. They are actually going to be rich compared to the guy who buys the newest car and cell phone and puts nothing into a 401k.

Maybe we close the much larger "loophole" that lets almost 1/2 the people in the USA pay no income taxes and many to even get extra money back for other types of taxes everyone else is paying.
