News Nvidia Client Switches to Intel CPUs Due to GPU Shortage, Price Hikes

Nvidia products are so popular, they are able to sell them for so much money and they still sell out!

I don't think Intel and AMD picking up a few marginal customers who lost out makes that a bad position for Nvidia.

OTOH - My standing theory is global demand will be so high in the future than TSMC, Samsung and Intel will all be hard pressed to supply it.

This article is an interesting case study, but I can't imagine we're talking about very much business, here.

I think the only way Intel CPUs seemed like a viable alternative was in terms of perf/$. When comparing a $10k CPU against a $60k GPU, the CPU only has to be about 1/6th as fast to break-even. They might still buy, even if it's not that fast, just due to having near instant availability, instead of having to wait an entire year.

No need to cry for Intel selling six $10,000 CPUs instead of one $60,000 GPU either.
