[SOLVED] NVIDIA control panel shows 144hz but when I click apply it stays at 60hz

I got a new DVI-D cable and when I plugged it in it was running at 144hz fine, but after opening CS:GO it won't let me go into 144hz on the monitor, but CS:GO is running at 144hz. I closed the game and I still can't go into 144hz.

1280x960 fullscreen. It also does it in Valorant.

The official website says it supports up to 144hz though. Just speculating but, the games may have somehow exclusive control of that setting while they're running. Does it occur when you quit all the games?

The monitor's manual clearly states:

1280x960 - 60Hz
1920x1080 - 144Hz (DVI/Displayport only)
