Under manage 3D settings I chose Global presets: 3D App – Video Editing since I work primarily in Premiere / After Effects and Photoshop. ????

I have a Dell Precision M6600 / Windows 7 Pro / Intel 17-2920XM CPU 2.5 GHz /16 gigs of ram and a Nvidia Quadro 5010M. I finally replaced the 750 gig 5400 rpm hard drive with a SanDisk 480 gig solid state drive and made my old drive into my secondary drive. I was pleased with the difference the solid state drive made until I updated the driver for my video card.

I downloaded and installed 341.21-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe

Driver Version 9.18.13.4121
More details about my computer (I don’t understand why it says Graphics Intel(R) HD Graphics Family 7.3 instead of Nvidia Quadro 5010M)

A video project that once rendered for an hour takes ten! This has been driving me crazy for the last several days. Would someone share their control panel settings?

Thanks, Rick

Which graphics port do you have your monitor plugged into? Make sure the monitor is receiving a video signal from the Quadro card and NOT the video output from the motherboard I/O panel. Also, I would recommend you disable the integrated graphics through the BIOS if the option is available.

Went into Nvidia control panel and found System Topology and took a screen shot, but I don't see any way to upload it here. It shows three display ports and none are connected. When I open Photoshop it says I don't have enough ram.

Went to Dell site and updated a few drivers. I'm supposed to be at Bios A015, but I am at A06 and it won't let me update to 15 without A07 which is not available on the Dell site. ???????????? Crap, things seem to be getting worse.

My best guess is that your quadro is not recognized and you are using the Intel integrated graphics which is why your photoshop is showing insufficient vram and rendering is so slow the answer to this problem is either to update the quadro's driver or to disable the integrated graphics from the bios (also mentioned by ninjawithagun). If updating and turning of the integrated graphics doesn't work then I would suggest you to do a system restore or downgrade your driver to the version when everything was working fine.

I don't know why you can't find the driver's here's the link to A07 bios

To Ninjawithagun (Thank you)

Thank you for getting back to me. I have been working with a Nvidia Tech and they told me the same thing. I have updated everything at the Dell site. I cannot go back to the original A05 Bios because it is not available. ?? Really. I tried to order the original discs from Dell but couldn’t because I bought the computer on Ebay in 2013. (Could never afford one of this new)

Finally got a hold of the original owner and he gave me his order number so I could register with Dell. Now I have to wait 15 days for it to be registered because this is the technological age. (Sorry … just frustrated)

The Nvidia tech had me hook up my laptop to an external monitor and it played instantly?? So what does that mean?

I am not very smart. I tried to disable the Intel integrated graphics card by disabling it in the Device manager. Oh brother, that was not the way to go. So I have 10 more days and then I hope I can get the original discs, reformat the drive and start over. I would love to FIX this thing right NOW, but don’t know what else to try. I cannot roll back to A05 and A07 was no help.

Maybe reformatting will also take care of my erratic cursor. I’ve retyped this several times because the cursor has a mind of its own and I know it is NOT the driver.

Take away, for me, I’ve learned if it works don’t mess with it. Updating to the newest driver does not always work because they are just like people, we don’t all play well together.
