I have been unable to affect video color settings for Chrome through the NVCP and have been unable to for about a year. The other night I got the help of two friends that had a video playing from YouTube while attempting to change the video color settings inside of the Nvidia Control Panel. Friend one has a 3060 Ti like myself and is on the same driver 537.42. Friend two has a non-Ti 3060 and is on driver 537.58. Friend one claimed they were able to change the video's colors and I had proof when they said they could get the video on their screen to go black and white. Friend two said they were unable to change settings. How is it that one friend can change the video color setting yet the other AND myself cannot? Friend one and myself both have used NVCleaninstall to install the video drivers without all the bloat/telemetry. Friend two I presume used Nvidia's official driver installer. I had been able to change those settings on my current PC since I built it back in 2020 and even still when I got my 3060 Ti in 2021. I would really like a possible fix to this, besides fresh drivers if possible, or if this feature was dropped for Chrome then please show me which driver's notes mention it. I've looked at a lot of them over the past year but not all. Though, if that feature was dropped why then would NVCP get the video super resolution feature and basically say it only works for few things, Chrome included? I also would prefer not to reinstall the drivers because friend one had only reinstalled fresh drivers when they installed their 3060 Ti a little over a year ago(with my help) and has updated them at least once since then and is STILL able to adjust those settings. Please, please don't tell me that this is something that only affects analog connections like someone else said in a post I made on Reddit the other day, I'm using DP on one monitor and HDMI on the other and up until last year I was able to change the settings with zero issue.

I'm repeating it, I have a friend who, the other night, said they were indeed able to change video colors on a YouTube video while I was on Discord with them asking them to check this for me, but I am unable to and cannot find anything relating to my issue. All I can find talks about either desktop colors or are posts from 5+ years ago. I am looking for help for "Adjust video color settings," the second from the bottom in NVCP and it's inability to affect videos in at least Chrome.

One observation I made was that having hardware acceleration enabled in Chrome allowed me to change the colors previously. I mention this because last year when I initially started seeking help someone commented as to how hardware acceleration was related. I have no clue. it was an observation I made in the past, I didn't have any programming input on either Chrome nor Nvidia drivers. Currently that setting for Chrome doesn't affect my ability to change colors one way or the other.

Hey there,

Okay, I get your issue. Have you tried installing the latest driver? Use DDU to uninstall the nVidia driver, then do a fresh install from the official driver update 537.58.

Some things I'm confused about. One of your friends installed the 3060ti a year ago, and has only updated the driver for it once or twice? Is that correct? Recent or older driver? Either way, your friend needs to update his GPU driver more regularly. This will give him/you more performance across a heap of games, and possible bug fixes for your issue.

Are all your system drivers up to date? What bios are you currently running? These will also need to be current so we can rule out bogey problematic drivers.

When troubleshooting PC issues, ensuring your drivers, bios are up to date is the first step to rule out software/driver compatibility issues.

Have you tried other browsers?

that was my call with the caveat that if they were to get a newly released game then they should update. I suggested that because they only play a few games and have been around for years. I understand that there could be fixes but they aren't nearly as tech savvy as me and if they were to attempt it without my help could make things worse for themselves. I do this as well because even though I can do the fresh reinstall with no problems I don't want to waste the time on something that might not fix the issue. Friend two, with the non-Ti, bought a pre-built and I take a fairly large assumption that they've updated the drivers at least once, BUT they also don't play many games and the ones they do aren't recent releases. That's where I'm getting my hesitation to reinstall fresh drivers for myself.

What bios are you currently running?
MSI's 1.A0 for the B550 mag mortar I have, it's from Feb 2022 so I guess that does need an update. though I did ask on reddit(which tbh there could be as much credible and bs information there as here, no offense) about updating the bios regularly I had some people say that unless I was experiencing problems then it wasn't really needed. I will attempt an update to get that out of the way. I could've sworn I updated the chipset drivers at some point, friend two when they got their new system had audio issues and after a recommendation to updates them, which fixed their issue, I did the same for my own system.

Have you tried other browsers?
I did try with Firefox earlier this year and had other issues on top of the video color settings not working. I tried toggling the hardware acceleration in it, too, just to see if it made a difference and it didn't. I went back to Chrome after that.

sorry for the double reply. I guess I hit the wrong button...

So I've updated the bios to the most recent available from MSI, 1.G0, reinstalled video drivers with DDU's help(now at 537.58, reinstalled chipset drivers which the installer told me all were up-to-date but I still reinstalled them. I still cannot change video colors for videos in Chrome. Just to see if an extension was maybe interfering I disabled all of them, but that didn't change anything. Are you sure that Nvidia didn't remove this ability, but not the CP settings, at some point? Even after a cold boot I cannot change the settings

I'm not sure if this may be related but I have an EVGA 3060 Ti, the only RGB on it is the EVGA logo, but after I start up the pc the RGB turns off once Windows gets loaded. I still have precision x1 installed, even though I know that EVGA stopped making video cards in general. Uninstalling it neither helped with the RGB nor my ability to change video colors.

Just for the heck of it I tried a video off Plex and a video I had downloaded a long time ago, Ender's Game. I still could not change any video color settings. I'm not sure which brand friend 2's video card is but this is starting to feel like Nvidia has a grudge against EVGA for their decision and has prevented EVGA cards from that specific setting. This is getting so tiresome...

Okay, that's some good PC housekeeping there. Good to do that regularly enough. It also helps to rule out if any if those things were the issue.

Hmm, running out of options here. It might be worth doing a re-install of windows. This might be an option : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...sh-start-0ef73740-b927-549b-b7c9-e6f2b48d275e

You will re-install the OS, but keep all your files. I guess the issue could be a bug, and starting with a fresh OS might be the way to solve it. Make sure if you do this, you select 'keep files' in the options before installing.

Sorry for getting back to this so late, but I didn't want to do this for fear of it either not working or making another bug, which it did both.

I did the reinstall and updated my Windows afterwards. NVCP still will not change video colors BUT the RTX video enhancement definitely works. I tested it last night and with the driver version I currently have, 551.61, NVCP shows when it's active AND I saw the picture quality change when I manually set a video to 360p. That in itself is baffling to me. The rtx video enhancement and changing desktop colors work yet changing video colors does not. I tested this with both Brave and Edge, both up-to-date.

NOW I seem to have this lovely bug where Windows will not save the volume levels I set for Brave. I have the main volume set to 50% and when I open Brave I see it at that maximum so I turn it down to 25%. Whenever I close Brave and reopen it the volume level goes back to that 50% and refuses to start and stay at 25%. I ran two SFC checks, the first found some corruption and fixed it, the second didn't find anything. After searching for an answer for a few hours I came across a reddit post saying that a key at Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore fixed their issue. I already had that key and there were a few dozen subkeys in it for I presume all the programs that make sound on my PC. Another thread suggested remaking the key with a .bat file and the OP for that thread went silent without saying if it worked or not. I tried that .bat and remade the key above. I opened Brave and set the volume level in the volume mixer, closed Brave and looked at the regeditor and refreshed. No subkeys were made, so I opened Discord and had to readjust those volume levels. After doing that I saw two subkeys made that I assumed were for the volume levels and after restarting Discord the volume mixer showed the levels at where I set them. For some reason Windows, or Brave, isn't making a registry key to save the volume level for Brave and this seems to have been an issue with no resolution since about 2016. I have never had this particular issue and it just started yesterday after the Windows reinstall. Idk if you're able to help with this issue but I have made a post on the pcmasterrace subreddit, so far with no replies in 8 hours... I'd really like to not try another reinstall of Windows as it didn't fix my original issue and just brought up another to join it. Thank you for the help you've been giving me.

Edit: Volume setting are not being saved for Brave, Chrome nor Edge. After the registry key remake I'm not sure if there are any other programs I have that won't save volume levels. I'll report if it's more than just web browsers.
