Hey people,

I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with the 185.85 version of the nvidia display drivers. Vista tells me on a daily basis that my display drivers have stopped working and the error was recovered. Now for the first time all month I tried playing Gears of War on PC and I was getting a weird display issue. My screen was flickering heavily, and it was mixed in with some snow/static on the image. After that, I quickly tried to boot up Crysis to see if I would have a similar problem, and it started up non-fullscreen. I put it to fullscreen and as soon as I accepted the changes the same problem occured with Crysis that I had with Gears. I tried Mass Effect afterwards (a game I had played just the night before without issues), and I had similar problems.

Does anyone know what this problem is, or what can cause it?

Specs:
AMD Phenom Quad 2.3ghz
XFX 750a SLI motherboard
8gig Corsair XMS2
2x GTX280 (SLI)
Auzentech Prelude 7.1 X-FI soundcard

Monitor:
Sharp Aquos 52" 1080p LCD 60hz (connected with HDMI wire)

the 185.85 is a beta? That wasn't specified to me!

Well I just restarted my computer and the games work now. I'll look into deleting this driver for a new one as soon as I have time.

I just took another look at the nvidia page and it seems like this driver is NOT beta, or they refuse to admit it is. There is no indication anywhere that this driver is beta on the page itself.

I don't even know where I could find an older version of the drivers.

I did mention that but you don't seem to have read my post.

All previous nvidia drivers have worked perfectly so far. This is my first issue with them and I've used nvidia for 3 years now.

I am not here to start a nvidia vs ATI war, I personally think they are both great, end of story.

As frustrated as I am with nvidia for their crappy driver, I can say all previous nvidia drivers have worked perfectly so far. This is my first issue with them and I've used nvidia for 3 years now.

As an added note, I have witnessed the blue screen of death twice now during the un-installation and SLI configuration option. I also have had two error messages during installation of the 185.85 that tell me a windows system file was not found or corrupted. I may have to just format the computer. So far on other websites and forums, the only problems people are having with this driver is a missing control panel from nvidia (which can be fixed apparently).

I am waiting for NCIX.com to send me a new motherboard I ordered, then its format time. Installing a new Phenom 2 940 Black Edition, 3ghz on it, and will have SLI PCI-E x16 on both cards.

Although I did not personally experience any problems with the 185.85 driver I have now moved on to the 186.08 Beta which may or may not work for you. And rangers is just an Ati fanatic who's MO never changes but as we have lost the 'ignore' button you will see him forever turning up with the same tired old rhetoric, that's one of the downsides of free speech I'm afraid.

That's the first thing I did when I got the card. Run it in single mode to make sure it worked.

Well Mousemonkey, I do believe I will try to download that beta driver. I guess it can't get worse than the problems I have now.
