Hi everyone

I'm getting a nvidia display driver error. This never happens while gaming, ever.
All power settings individually checked to never sleep etc. Screensaver is also set to none.
This did not happen in windows 8 but i've reverted to windows 7 because of issues with my logitech g930. The error happens even when nothing is open, just on the desktop.

It happens 100% of the time by doing this: I'll be leaving the room for a while but need my computer to be on so i just press the power off button on my monitor to save a few bucks here and there.
Computer is still running, when i come back i'll turn monitor on and it will either come back on straight away and give me the nvidia display driver error OR ill have to double click my mouse to bring it back SLOWLY. (With a display port no signal message on monitor)
I know this seems indicative of some kind of sleep setting, but as far as the windows sleep settings are concerned they are all off.

Is there some kind of setting i'm missing ? Also i've done a safemode driversweeper clean up and reinstalled drivers to no avail.
Could MSI Afterburner cause such issues ? I am just using it to monitor GPU temps.
Also monitoring CPU temps with RealTemp.

The issue is definitely recent with Windows 7 now being installed and zero issues with intense gaming like BF4 etc. Please let me know if you need more information, thank you very much.

Running windows 7 64 bit
GPU: Gtx 780ti x 2 in SLI
CPU: i7 4770k with Noctua DH-D15
MB: Asus Maximus VI Formula
SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256gb
PSU: 850 Watt Antec HCG-850M High Current Gamer Modular Power Supply
RAM😀DR3 8GB (2x4G) G.Skill 1600MHz

To try give you guys more information ive noticed i can instantly cause the error to appear simply by powering off the monitor. Example: I switch the monitor off. turn it back on after 3 seconds and BAM : Nvidia display driver has stopped working

Found out why its happening, windows 7 doesn't like display port much. If monitor power is switched off, windows 7 will disconnect it from the computer(essentially the same as unplugging the monitor and cable to gpu)
Resulting in slow to turn back on and display driver errors. (also why replugging the cable activates the display)
Going to get a dual link dvi to bypass this problem.
*works fine in windows 8 btw
