I knew it was a software bug from the first seconds beeing in windows with that newly installed 196.21, because of the NVIDIA Performance in the NVIDIA Control Panel for the GPU was simply dead, knowing this beeing the software interface for any software-client to overclock a NVIDIA GPU.... ya needed to wait for a official stating days after? haha. WHQL does not means you are a final user, you will always be a beta-tester for new claimed to be working features. You cant tell if blue or green got the better driver-support. from my point of view and vision of how it would work perfectly, the vendors would at ALL not need to write ANY driver, because they would focus on providing lightweigth performant open APIs, so in that way Microsoft focuses on windows-kernel-drivers directly accessing directx, GNU focuses on linux-kernel-drivers directly accessing openGL and openCL + availability of direct-compatibly on top of that transmorphing all the stuff into openGL and -CL, by that all platforms would be able to do physical and graphical computing at high performance. the blue and green giants hardly violate anti-trust code/law in a large manner.
i really think making hardware work with ANY operating system should be vendors to-do and i really think making hardware work with a SPECIFIC operating system should be the os-developers to-do based on what vendors did.
Remember you buy a high-cost thing that can compute, but that vendor forces you either that you can only use the software-products by itselfs' like cuda or physix, or by it's cooperators against opengl/cl, directx what in last time made the personal computer the second choice for gaming.
The blue/white/green-syndicate still seems to be a good investment because what ever penalty they reiceive for something happened in the past the high technological fluctuation of closed-APIs provides them of unimaginable tools and hard to detect futeral anti-trust code/law-violations. Hey i mean, thats still a good reason not to buy the Red, which has wafer-fabs in USA and Europe.... people need more to care HOW they achieved such a great volume.
The rule nounces "let me hide the handling of my processors and let me providing source-code hidden-drivers and beeing the first on the market, then i control the the innovation and the competitors". In IT we have cooperators of ubundling industries that try to fix innovation by a comparable strategy running fud on foss.
