Hello

I just finished a build and downloaded windows 11 , My issue is , GeForce app is not installing my gpu drivers , Gives error after i press express installation . How do i fix that?

Also my Display adaptor is showing Microsoft basic display adaptor (error code 31) and my Gpu , 4070 TI.

What can i do to fix this please?

What's the rest of your specs including power supply.

Where is the video cable connected to? My guess is graphics card isn't being powered properly and you have the video cable connected to motherboard using integrated graphics.

Have you let all the updates load. Motherboard drivers. And restart
I did , When i was prompted MSI drivers utility i installed the essentials , unticks Aida and norton etc, MSi center etc.

Updated windows , restarted pc and checked for any more updates , installed those and tried again yet still same issue

In Device manager , The display adapter shows Microsoft generic display adapter (but says there is error 31) and My 4070 TI , The Drivers on it as from a year ago and i installed Geforce and after clicking on update drivers , When it gives me option to Express install or Custom , I press on Express and after a few sec it tells me there was an issue installing drivers.

The Display is connected to GPU , I have GPU connect well and don't seem to be getting any error / boot issue.

I do however notice when my pc went to 'sleep' the mouse / keyboard didn't wake it up and i needed to press on Power button to wake it.

Have you tried to install Nvidia drivers as administrator. Also did you make sure you have the Windows 11 Nvidia driver and not Windows 10. It might be being blocked by incorrect OS driver. 10's driver should work but sometime is complains.

Check bios is up to date. Also as above, run installer as administrator (right click).

Where are you sourcing driver from?

From here, https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

Do manual search, input fields and grab latest game ready driver.
I am confused what you mean by 1st part , Which installer ? I am trying to download the drivers with Geforce ,

Bios are latest version too , the one that came out couple of days ago.

If you download driver from Geforce you'll have the actual driver installer. Right click that.
Ok so that shows the Geforce version as higher than what i had , i am not sure what caused that? i went to Nvidia website and i only had Belgian language (french or dutch) ,

The one you linked is more recent version , Do i need to 'uninstall' the other app? and I see there are Few of Nvidia apps in my installed apps ,

As follow ,
Nividia Graphic driver 528.28
Nvidia Frameview SDK
Nvidia Geforce Experience
Nvidia Control Panel

Thank you , you are a life saver .

Any Idea why my pc doesn't wake up from sleep with mouse / keyboard? I also seem to have lost my windows license , IT worked when i used it during install but after updates its not working ,

Just to clarify its my key from older window i had physical copy of , I removed the key from my current pc ( with command that does it) and Used it on new one , IS it because i still have my older Pc active?

No not like that, you deactivate old machine by logging into your MS account through web browser.

Regarding mouse/keyboard not waking up from sleep im not sure sorry. You'll have to do some searching.

I still see the microsoft basic display adapter , Can i uninstall it?

Sorry for late reply , I deleted all the other machines on MS account , do i need to do something to activate the key on new machine? and Can i still use my older machine ?

Can leave it, there's no harm doing so. I wonder if basic driver is to make integrated graphics functional. Could install igpu driver if wanted to get most out of it. Or disable igpu in bios, that should hide Microsoft basic driver.

If not activated yet run the troubleshooter to activate, the key you used should now activate. Old machine won't be activated but will still be useable.

So i Uninstalled the basic driver... and it fixed the error , Is that gonna pause issues down the line?

Also how to i auto update my motherboards drivers? amd detect does it? i ended up installing amd Adrenalin... i don't have amd gpu , should i get rid of it? or is it useful to update motherboard drivers too? i got geforce also.

Windows covers most drivers. Chipset from Amd.com https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am5/x670e . Don't use auto update programs such as driver booster or crap like that, you don't know what you're really installing. Your cpu has Radeon integrated graphics, so up to you if leave Adrenaline (similar to NvidiaCP) installed.
Thank you for the reply , I did use the exact link you linked me to get the "drivers" but my Wifi seems way too slow (2MBPs) , was wondering.

Also i mistakenly installed the Adrenaline while checking for the driver , as it asked me about it and it was late at night /: Keeping it with the Geforce also installed won't cause issues? As you mentioned i got AMD cpu , But if its of no use to me without a GPU i rather not have it , Would it be safe to just uninstall it?

Up to you, leave it or uninstall it, it's not going to interfere with Geforce. If not using igpu then i guess you can uninstall it, no dramas.

Your wifi, there are guys more knowledgeable than me, if i had to guess I'd say wifi signal from source isn't 100%? Too far or interference, wifi isn't all that reliable, would be better off running a network cable.

Thank you , i will do just that , I still can't activate my windows to new machine , it says invalid key so i might need to buy a new one? This was a win8 prof i had and it worked once before few months ago.

Yeah wifi is far from my room but i had another system a while back with b650 board and it was atleast twice as fast , this one is better board yet seem to be struggling there.

I really appreciate your Help!

Oh a side note , I was playing WoW earlier with this system , both my CPU and GPU were at 71°c (idle is around 40 to 45) , Is that ok temp? and i never touched Fan setting in bios , should i change something? was pretty loud

Yeah might have to get a new key since Microsoft ended activation using prior edition keys which your last system was last to use. Could still try emailing Microsoft support your situation that you did a motherboard change and old system is no longer in use, they might be able to help you out.

Temps are fine. Where is case sitting? Remember heat rises so best position for case is usually near the floor where air is coldest.

Wifi receiver or antenna on other motherboard could have been better or orientated differently, that's a possibility.

I will give it a try , i am on queue for a call back with support but there is no timer when they will and seems its never gonna happen...

Case is on my table but i should move it down i guess ,

It was Same model , Tomahawk b650 , now i have X670E , same make and editions but maybe i am misremembering it.

Thank you for all the help you provided!

No problem. Btw is XMP enabled in bios for your ram? XMP profile isn't automatic which if not on would be running default speed of around 4800.

Can check speed with Cpuz under memory tab. Frequency there is single data rate, times that by two for double data rate, so 6000 should read 3000.

Yes i enabled it , didn't check it but the profile had listed it as 6000 so should be alright.
