Nvidia DSR: Framerate progressively getting worse?

Hi,
I recently started using DSR as an alternative to simply forcing my res above native 1080p on my GTX 770. In most easy to run games such as Dishonored, Payday 2, Mafia II I could run at above 60FPS on 2880x1620. However, upon opening Dishonored today I noticed that it was regularly dropping below 60FPS with spikes as low as the mid 30s. For an easy to run game this seems very strange, so I am putting it down to an issue with Nvidia's DSR. Does anyone else know of this issue or maybe have a reason for it/a fix? Thanks in advance.

Reading up on DSR a bit more (I've also got a 770 that I've played around with DSR on some games for use on a TV) it sounds like it can be based largely on how the driver interprets the scene data with how it downsamples?
That still doesn't sound right to me that it would be high frame rate for 'X' number of days and then consistent lower frame rate for 'Y' number of days, it seems like it would be all over the place during the same session.

I've also found a number of articles dealing with settings that will optimize the game for DSR but that still doesn't point to anything that would cause the performance to change overnight without software changes.

I'll keep looking.
Any chance a background process is running? Backup? Carbonite/dropbox or something?
Any way you can minimize when the FPS drops kick in and check your performance monitor / resource monitor, sorted by % of usage for CPU and disk? That would be my guess, other than the DSR possibly not being fully supported with those games OR those games don't support those resolutions natively?

I'd be interested to know if you can drop the DSR resolution to say 2560x 1440 or the highest resolution supported by the titles / something of the sort and see if those drops still occur?

I've tried these, closing a bunch of processes, checked MSI Afterburner for temps, dropping the resolution and all to no avail. However, if I use an even higher res like 3200x1800 with DSR turned off it runs just fine.

Even at 1080p, whilst DSR is enabled, lower FPS.
