Helllo everyone.

I was thinking on purchasing a 4870 for my next desktop computer build. I was just wondering though, what's the NVIDIA equivalent of this card?

Which one would you suggest I purchase? Thanks.

the nvidia equivalent would be the GTX280!

Seems on a whole that the HD4870 is faster and uses GDDR5 rather than GDDR3, which apparently promises 3x the speed of GDDR3.

Although I would say that the GTX280 has more stable drivers.

The GTX 260 is the NVIDIA equivalent to the 4870.Depending on where you are, bothe cards will be similarily priced. To be honest,it really depends on what you play.I've always enjoyed NVIDIA cards, even though they cost more on release.Goodluck.

oh, well in that case the 4870 destroys the GTX260. Although, if you want to overclock your card I would go for the GTX260 as they seem to be better overclockers. Also, the GTX260 is cheaper, cooler and uses less power when running on idle. Oh and its generally cheaper!!!

In what possible case does the 4870 "destroy" the gtx 260? If you use it as a hammer?

Who says the 4870 doesn't OC well? I have my core at 825 from 750. and Memory at 1050 from 900. It can actually push higher but this was much more stable in all cases.

The 4870 and GTX260(216) Trade punches all day long.
