Anyone know anything about this card? I can't seem to find anything about it by that name. Search results keep coming up with the gt 745m at 1GB but nothing about the gtx 745 4GB.

That is really weird. In that situation I would recommend contacting customer support through email or phone. I doubt dell would customize a card specially for their pc's and I more likely doubt it would be a entry level card.

I was surprised that this is a low profile card (a little bigger than a credit card) with a built on fan. It definitely packs some power for it's size. I haven't done any extensive testing or benchmarks on it, but when swapping from my main desktop with a R9 270 2GB in it and this desktop with the GTX 745 4GB card, I notice no difference in game play for 1080p. It's powerful enough that I won't need to order a better card, at least not right away. The entry level nvidia cards definitely have a leg up on the entry level amd cards that I've purchased in the past, that's for sure.

It says on Nvidia's website that the GeForce GTX 745 is supplied to OEMs only. So basically any of the big computer manufacturers can use it, but the public can't buy it to put in their own PC.

Sorry for bumping the post, and sorry if this has already been said. I don't read things very well - things often go straight over my head. D:

Sorry for the late bump. Im really struggling on what to decide on buying. You seem to compare the gtx 745 with the r9 quite nicely. Do you know how the gtx would run games like "Final FantasyXIV:ARR" and "The Secret World".

My friend has a gtx 660 ( came with the 3rd gen alienware x51) and I'm really hoping for similar results

Does anyone know if I can use two monitors with this card. It has three different inputs so, I'm confused. Do I need an adapter for a second flat screen?

The 745 GTX is a pain to get to work with Ubuntu Server 14.04.1 and gnome - haven't tried any previous versions. Finally just put an HP-OEM/ASUS card in and that works fine at 1920x1200 without any special drivers. Dell XPS is nice but should have bought it without the 745 GTX.

I wanted it more for it's form factor and that I could easily throw it in a back pack and take it with me when traveling. I got a really good deal on it direct from dell and then spent a little extra upgrading it myself (more ram, added an ssd, etc). It has more than met my needs and a comparable system would have cost me about the same but I wouldn't have got the form factor that I wanted. Just for reference, I saw the ASRock M8 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856158039) in person and for a barebones system (without a processors, memory, hard drive, video card, etc) it would have cost me more than I got the x51 for as a complete system before my upgrades.

Surprised this thread is still going to be honest. When I compared it to my r9 270 (non x) I was saying with the games I played, I noticed no difference between the two in terms of performance on ultra settings at 1080p. Now if you play really graphic intensive games or are playing at higher resolutions, the r9 270 is definitely the better card to have, but in terms of the games I play, both are capable of running them at ultra and there's no difference. At least to my eye between game play or frame performance.

The GTX 745 actually surpasses the GT 640 by quite a bit. It's a bit better then the GTX 650, but is beat by the 650 ti . The 745 actually has a slightly better pixel rate then the 650ti, but is way behind in texture and shading performance. The main advantage of the 745 is power usage. About half of the 650 ti and about 10 watts less then the 650. The other advantage is the 745 is a single slot card, while all 650 ti's and most (but not all) 650's are dual slot cards . This means a card that will fit a lot of the Dell and HP pc's that have PCI-E slots, but only allow a single slot card. And the 745 won't require a replacement of the stock psu's which are usually around 300 watts or less. There are a couple of 745's to be found on Ebay from time to time. They are selling between 650 and 650 ti's price wise, which is right where they should be. A good choice for someone with a limited budget , and limited options space wise ...

There is but it is an OEM product. Not too good for much but low end gaming, if that. No where near as good as the GTX 650, and the GT 640 is just as good and in some cases better. Check the links below. I only linked OEM builds for both but you can look at the non OEM 640 by choosing it from the list on the side. Only advantage is the single slot size. Had one similar to it in a previous generation but the fan works it's ass off if you game with it. Not worth it.

Sorry for the very late post but I was just looking at one on ebay and laughed that the seller was asking $125 for it when you can almost get a new 750 for around that. Some people :)
