Hello.

I am having a problem with my graphics card so I decided to make a post about it and see if I can find any solution.

So, as I previously mentioned I own an Nvidia Geforce 9800gt. I have had it for 4 years now and I had never encountered any problems or errors until now. One week ago I booted my Pc and when everything loaded i got a warning from Windows' s action center saying this : Your nvidia display driver has stopped responding and successfully recovered. And while this message appeared my desktop was completely frozen. I couldn't even move my mouse cursor. Then my screen turned black for a second and it went on again. After that, the error appeared again like 15 seconds later and my screen froze again. The 3rd time which was another 10 seconds later or so, same error appeared and I got a Bsod (Blue screen of death). So I decided to format my Pc because I initially thought it was coming from some programs that I had. Anyways, I formatted my Pc and everything went smoothly for 1 week. And I thought problem was solved. But... today I got the same error with the same procedure: 3 times the same error while screen frozen and at the end a Bsod. Any help or suggestions would be happily accepted ;)

My Pc specs in case you need them: Intel Pentium D 820 2.8ghz
Nvidia GeForce 9800GT
2 Gb RAM
A pegasus 425W Psu
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
I also have attached a fan on my graphics card because temeratures were kind of high.

Keep in mid that I have had the same Pc with exactly the same specs for 4 years now, so I guess it wouldn't been coming from my other hardware apart from my graphics card

Did you try reinstalling the Drivers or updating the Drivers?

My drivers are up to date sir. And from the moment I got this message before I formatted too, I dont think reinstalling will solve hthe problem. Cause it cant be the driver not installing correct every single time. Can it?

My drivers are up to date sir. And if I do a rollback would I have to stay on that driver's version forever? :/

Yes, if it works. But if you the card still doesn't work then maybe it's already dying. The life-span of the card is most likely hitting the limit. I suggest you get a new card as soon as possible.

Hmm I see. D o you have any suggestions for a new card that is compatible with my motherboard and maybe with my processor too?

Anything between 100-160 euros i suppose. My motherboard is a gigabyte S-series GA-P35-DS3

I would test the drivers before i look for anything new, i know nvidia recently stopped supporting some of its gts models so its possible that your card isnt supported by the latest drivers

200 series and below has been dropped from main driver around mid last year. the last driver for 9k series is 340.52.
