Hello,

I just wanted to share this, so that's why I'm creating a general discussion Topic. Anyways, VideoCardz just posted an article, and according to the leaked info, it looks like NVIDIA has some surprise announcement to make at Computex. What do you guys think ?

A refresh of the TURING GPUs, or maybe a new RTX TITAN might be in the works ? I'm more inclined towards the former. On May 27th NVIDIA is holding a press conference. It is quite likely that we will hear more about this ‘product’ then. Btw, according to Wccftech, refresh Turing GPUs might get released as well

UPDATE: CONFIRMED: RTX SUPER to be announced on July 2nd..

NVIDIA has confirmed announcement and launch dates for GeForce RTX Super series to the press. All 3 SKUs will be made public on July 2nd. This is the embargo on the news for all three cards. When it comes to reviews only 2070S and 2060S embargo will lift on the same day. The RTX 2080 SUPER review embargo has not been decided yet by NVIDIA (officially it’s TBD — or ‘later in July’).

The information from NVIDIA does not confirm if SUPER series will be available on the same day as reviews (hard launch / on-shelf date).

More and more leaks from VIDEOCARDZ !

RTX 2070 SUPER and RTX 2060 SUPER final specifications leaked.

The GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER is using TU104 GPU with 2560 CUDA cores. This model comes with the same memory configuration as RTX 2070 Non-Super: 8GB GDDR6 256-bit with 14 Gbps bandwidth. This SKU will require 30W more than its predecessor (215W)

The RTX 2060 SUPER is now featuring TU106 GPU with 2176 CUDA cores. The Wattage has increased by 15W to 175W. The biggest change came to memory configuration. Unlike RTX 2060 Non-Super the new card has 8GB GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit interface.

As for the RTX 2080 SUPER, the card is only mentioned in a press deck with a claim of “15 Gbps Mem”.

From Nvidia or AMD ?
Does the brand really matter as long as it's a worthwhile investment(subjective to individual perspective)?
That said, people can sugarcoat it all they want, but the 20 series was disappointing all around. I see 2 exceptions, but they don't make up for it.
The 2060 for having the best value, and the 2080ti's raw performance(soon to be replaced by the Super) - but the price is downright horrid - I know, I KNOW, flagship models aren't about value.
The argument I'm making is it's price compared to each previous flagship(2080ti to 1080ti, 1080ti to 980ti, and so on) is just ludicrous.
I can afford one, no problem. But I sure as hell wouldn't be happy with the purchase afterwards.0

Back on topic: IF that videocardz link were to be accurate, then the 2080ti Super would be ~$900?

Lets look at the hierarchy of cards:

Enthusiast 1080p 60fps has been around since 680 and 7970 series. That was 7 years ago. Back then $400 was a top of the line card.

Now mainstream is 1440p. Now it's $450 for mainstream performance? 580/1060 is entry level. Sorry I'm not putting $450 into a mainstream cards. Both NVIDIA and AMD can byte me. In 2->3 years, that card will be outmoded.

Todays rankings:
ESports: 720p to 1080p with low to moderate settings (RX570 and below)
Entry Level: 1080p with reduced settings. (RX590,1660ti)
Mainstream: 1440p with most settings turned on or all on. VR Capable with few dropped frames
Enthusiast: 4K @ 60fps+

I believe majority of people still on 1080p so i don't think we can really say that 1440p is mainstream. Personally if i was given a choice between 1080p and 1440p i would still going to pick 1080p. I would rather go with 1080p with high frame rate/refresh rate than go for 1440p 60hz. But that's just me though.

The stats on both these sites would say otherwise. These are every day people and 1080p is on a downward trend.

https://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp

http://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-stats

According to ViewSonic 4k will be 50% of all sales by 2020. So even 1440p will be mid tier.

Video card hp is not matching the resolution increase. I can't fathom spending this kind of money with 4k adoption rates. These cards will quickly become dated. So a $450 investment that will be too slow in a couple years max does not make sense.

You used to be able to buy high end and not worry for 4, 5 years for the same money as today's mainstream which will last maybe 2 or 3 years before you have to dial back.

Additionally, consider hi res vr. This is gaining foothold. Foveated rendering will help. But the only real solution is more graphics hp.

Looking at the above trends, it can be safely argued that 1440p and higher is becoming mainstream (over half of market)

https://www.viewsonic.com/library/business/monitor-resolution-aspect-ratio

I could fathom
$350 for 2070 performance.
$450 for 2080 levels
$600 for 2080ti levels

The whole crypto boom really screwed up the market. (It's not the only factor, but likely the biggest reason for price increases.)

This is exactly the reason why I purchased a used 1080 ti right before the RTX launch. At 3440x1440p or higher resolutions, the upgrade path will be frequent. This is why for lower budget builds I never recommend more than 1440p. Another good reason for me to go used is to wait until the next series launches, then get the previous gen flagship card used so I know I get the best of that gen and the most value for my money. If it's true and from what I heard the 2070 super can out perform the 1080 ti, then this would be the exception.

TOM's posted an article. Is Nvidia making another high-end RTX GPU ? RTX 2080 Ti SUPER ?

AIDA64, a widely used system information, diagnostics, and benchmarking tool, has added information for a mysterious, unannounced Nvidia GeForce RTX T10-8 graphics card, which is apparently based on the TU102 die.

OK. If this is Nvidia pulling an 'Intel', it's unfounded.
AMD simply does not have anything - or upcoming - to compete with Nvidia at the high end.
That RX 5800(XT), if the 5700(XT) and Ryzen 3000 are anything to go by, is just going to be AMD's version of Turing, but without the significant price markup.
It's going to compete with the 2080 Super while being cheaper - what's the point of releasing another $1000+ card, if it really is going to be a 2080Ti Super?
5800(XT) is going to sell more units overall.

Nvidia just needs to focus on 7nm.

Lol, this news article is kind of funny. It looks Jensen Huang has lot of love for Ray Tracing in GPUs, on hardware level that is.

Nvidia's CEO calls it "crazy" to buy a GPU without raytracing::

During the company's Q2 FY2020 Financials webcast, Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang has stated that it's "crazy" to purchase a new graphics card that lacks support for raytracing.

Here's the full quote; "At this point, it’s a foregone conclusion that if you’re going to buy a new graphics card, it’s going to last you two, three, four years, and to not have ray tracing is just crazy."

While Jensen's statement makes sense from a futureproofing perspective, it doesn't make sense when you look at Nvidia's current product lineup. Within the past three months, Nvidia has released their GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1660 and GTX 1650 graphics cards, all of which lack support for RTX raytracing. Yes, Nvidia has, in a roundabout way, said that it is "crazy" to purchase three of its most recent graphics cards.

With his statement, Jensen is targetting AMD's Radeon RX 5700 series of graphics cards, which currently lack support for hardware-accelerated raytracing. These graphics cards compete with the Geforce RTX and Geforce RTX Super series, all of which support hardware-accelerated raytracing.

And to that, I'd like to direct Mr. Huang to the hardcore, competitive, 200+fps or bust, gaming bracket...
Or pretty much anyone who wants a much fps as possible.

Does RT at 1080p even LOOK better than no RT at 4k, or even 1440p? I doubt it, but still curious.

I agree. According to HUANG only those who buy flagship GPUs with RTX are not crazy enough to play games. He doesn't realize that the majority of games are on a mainstream platform, with 1080 P still being the most widely used resolution.

Then why did NVIDIA drop hardware-level support on their GTX TURING counterparts, in the first place, if Huang thinks without RTX there is no future ? Makes little sense to me.
