Question Nvidia GeForce GT 650M won't update to latest version

Jul 15, 2020
Nvidia GeForce GT 650M won't update to latest version (Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap). How do I fix this issue?

Hello! I have a Gigabyte U2442F laptop with an Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics card running on windows 8. I try to update it to its latest version because it's required for a game but everytime it tries to install the latest drivers, it goes into blue screen with message Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap and keeps on repeating. I remove the update and roll it back to 397. something and its okay.

What could be causing this problem? Is it my graphics card?

  • windows 8.1
  • 8gb ram
  • intel core i 7
Any help would be gladly appreciated!
