I asked Gigabyte Xtreme if any of the Nvidia partners were going to release a custom card in may. This was their answer:
"The 1080 will be launched on 5/27, so there's not going to be any May left. We will have a card by then though."
Not sure if this is the Xtreme version of the card but they will have a custom card in may 😉

+1

Awesome! Pretty sure I'm gonna pick up the Strix version of 1080. :)

Well these two duds at linustips and Jay definitely make a living just out of YT, don't know for sure about Paul but I'd assume so. I don't think that running a tech channel is any more difficult than running any other channel - I'd think that actually it's a bit easier since they don't have to be really creative or anything and they don't work as much on their vids like channels that do, for instance, sketches or song parodies and the like. The most difficult part, I believe, is starting the channel - for obvious reasons but once you're up and running it's easy peasy. I agree that it's a great thing that such channel exist and enjoy some popularity - I only wish they were more professional and at least sometimes went deeper than recapping a wikipedia page. If you know such channels I'd listen to your recommendation and be very grateful.

Possibly, but I think those big names like JaysTwoCents and Paul's Hardware etc who are actually making a living from their tech channels probably work much harder than you give them credit for. I'm sure some works less hard than others and other types of youtube channels may require a lot more work put into them, but in general it's not quick and easy work making videos, plus a lot of other work has to be done as well. But yeah, it would definitely be interesting to know just how much work some of those guys actually do I guess.

I didn't mean that they put no work/thought into their channels at all - video editing alone is a pain in the ass but literally everything requires some work of sorts - even chatting on forums. I meant that compared to other channels like, say, ColledgeHumor or BarelyPolitical their work is easier - to the point it's more like chatting at forums than pangs of delivering really creative content.

I forgot to say that I've seen that guy from Gamenexus but I couldn't remember what was the vid about - at least I remember I definitely wasn't annoyed :) didn't have the time to look closer at his channel though.

This gen it's all about 1440p. Now next gen, nvidia's gen after pascal, volta, that's when 4k will be mainstream. Wouldn't be surprised if HBM3 was out by then.

Ah... So nice to have high hopes and big dreams.

Like 17seconds pointed out through the Steam Survey, the reality is that FullHD is hardly the most dominant Window resolution. It is being trailed closely by 1366x768! FullHD is now 10+ years "old tech" and the adoption rate has been less than slow. Higher resolutions that are not backed by *all* manufacturers have little to no chance of replacing FHD; 4K is still too expensive and not the mainstream option.

Give it another 10 years and we'll might see it be the dominant resolution, along with 1366x768, hahaha.

Cheers!

Cause all those darn cs go noobs play at 144hz 1080p

Me, I prefer to enjoy the scenery on my 1440p 27" I don't play shooters much 😛
Glad pascal will be able to destroy 1440p instead of some games getting 50fps

XD

I wear it only when I game

they have already put theirs out as has 40 others literally. look at the first reply to this thread with the 1080 info for a link to a list of literally 40+ reviews from all over the world.

AnandTech posted a "preview" and TechReport only got a 1080 when the other reviews went live, so no.

I just checked their sites and that hasn't changed.

Cheers!

here is a press release from Inno3D for their custom card. http://videocardz.com/60176/inno3d-presents-new-ichill-cooling-solution-for-geforce-1000-series

firs thing i noticed is what i knew had to happen with custom cards. "Yesterday’s teaser revealed that GTX 1080 will feature custom board with more power connectors (8+6 pin), which as you know may help to overcome the 120% TDP limit and unlock the full potential of Pascal GP104 GPU."

i'm not surprised at all by the extra power lead since it was clear by the early reviews that the 8 pin was not enough to oc it right. I'm guessing an 8 and a 6 pin plus a 250w tdp for most custom cards with that 250w being pushed higher for the top end of performance cards like the FTW and GB Extreme editions and so on.

not being one to really care about power usage much, these power numbers don't bother me at all for the performance they deliver.

and check out this Asus laptop teaser. suggests that a 1080M gpu will be almost as fast as a 1080!!

how's that for laptop graphics FASTER THAN A TITAN X based on 3dMark score. finally a reason to pay for a 4k screen on a laptop if you're a gamer. seems we may get the power to actually push that resolution in a portable unit. Computex is going to be rather exciting this year

After seeing how efficient Pascal was on the live stream, I was guessing the new Pascal mobile GPUs were going to pack as much performance as they do there. Pretty cool stuff.

If you must have a laptop that is, I think. I think I prefer the extra screen space of a monitor.

I fancy a GTX 1080 so I can play games in 1440p on my 1080p monitor. The Witcher 3 was difficult to max at 1440p on my stock clocks Asus Strix 980. As was Alien: Isolation. You could play them fine but it needed the v-sync off. Otherwise when the fps went under about 50, it started v-sync stuttering.

It was mentioned earlier that according to Steam most of use 1080p monitors. While this is true 1440p is what I like to play in. However I think I would prefer to buy a 1440p monitor at about 25". In preference to my current 1080p monitor at 22" running DSR 1440p. Only because DSR does cause a little softening. Thus the GTX 1080 is our way to get what we want.
