The more I read, the easier it is to get excited about the upcoming custom cards. One of the 1080's strongest suits is its overclock scaling (how much extra performance you get with increased clocks). Seeing versions with beefed up cooling, custom components, and an enhanced power envelope is going to let these cards really take off. Working out the bugs in the new OC software is going to be a big help as well.

still a ways down the road yet so should be more abundant by then. from what i have read, HDR is worth the extra bit of cost. but i'm mainly using it for the real estate and not for games or videos. so might not make as much difference to me. but will still be looking closely when the time comes :)

So... can anyone estimate the performance of the 1070? Judging my teraflops alone the 1080 seems to be 58% more expensive but 38% faster, which is fairly acceptable IMO. Dunno how reliable that estimation is, though.

HDR is still a little bit too far from reality to consider right now, as far as I know. At least on relatively sane prices and until we see HDR in dedicated "gaming" monitors, such as the Asus PG and Acer X series, but you might not be interested in that. Could be wrong though, I haven't been very up to date with monitors lately.

Sorry. Only part of my post posted. I am building a new system and replacing my 560ti's. Is the 1080 still a good place to start? I'm not sure what to make of many posts here positive and negative. I'd like to move to 4k as I've been at 2560x1600 for many years. Sounds like a card that can do that at 60fps is still a ways away. I don't want to wait a year, but I've been stuck at 1080p for about a year now since my 2560x1600 finally died.

The only negative about this card is the unrealistic expectations some people had. It exceeds every professional reviewer's expectations that I've read so far. The price might be a bit inflated at launch and go down some within a few months ( speculation ) but you pay for new tech.

FIRE STRIKE ULTRA 1.1

VALID RESULT
SCORE
6 783 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980(2x) and Intel Core i7-5820K Processor
Graphics Score 7 051
Physics Score 16 508
Combined Score 3 128

VS Tweaktown GTX1080 Firestrike Ultra Graphics of 4998 stock; it has been overclocked to 2.1 scoring 6232

And my Ultra 5820k/2x980sli Graphics score is nowhere near the best for 5820k/2x980sli which is 7625

Just wait until next week.
You'll have kids doing the peepee dance waiting for it to actually appear for sale.
And then the shipping questions.

And then, it will be all out of stock and they will come and ask when it going to get restock.

I had one of those pre-emptively the other day:
"After it goes out of stock on day 1, how soon will there be more?"

we got the 1070 now to rumor to death. some official specs tomorrow and then awaiting a nda date for those cards and then those new benchmarks. by then custom 1080's will be out and we can savor those numbers and then and then and then.....

there'll be plenty to chew on for a good time to come. of course the only thing people will ask about is whatever we don't know at the moment. never can be happy with what we do know :)

expect at least 2 weeks after launch date. we should start seeing some reviews for some of the cards in the next couple weeks i'm guessing. but otherwise, there is no official word on any of these cards yet. give em time and just enjoy them as they come out 😀

i'm thinking most who jump on the release day Founder's Edition cards will be second guessing themselves pretty quickly.

Then will get a person who sues Nvidia because the GTX 1070 actually has 8.5gb of vram. 😛

Thery're one of the tiny graphics card companies, similar to Biostar in some ways.

I always remeber them for making those huge radeon 7990 GPUs.

Those ones that I feel like would be able to break the PCIe slot on a less expensive motherboard.

Ring any bells? http://www.amazon.com/PowerColor-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-AX7990-6GBD5-2DHJ/dp/B00A3KGW4K

Sorry, I thought colorful was PowerColor, which is who I mean't in the previous comment. I've never heard of Colorful.

Yeah no kidding. If the 970 had Kepler aritecture, we would of only seen 3GB out of 4gb.

Nvidia only sent everyone a single card from what I read. It won't take long before they'll start showing up.

I saw a video before that was SLI 1080 compared to the other cards : don't remember which video tho sorry .. but if you look abit u will find it 😉
