Well, very good card! Much better price/performance than the 1080. I did the mathematics, and the 1080 is approximately 20-25% faster than the 1070. However, it costs ~40% more than a 1070.

Also, am I the only one who finds these near impossible to read:

Really impressive card. So the debate can end, 1070 is faster than Titan X in actual game FPS benchmarks - substantially in most games of this test. In the benchmarks of this article it is 2nd only to the 1080 in most, while slightly bested by Fury X in a couple games. I averaged them up and got 21.6% percent lower than 1080. That is really remarkable for 40% lower cost.

Well, redid that math and got 18.6%. It is somewhere around in there. lol

So, this is the successor to the GTX 970, but you didn't include benchmarks for that card? Am I missing something here? How are us 970 owners supposed to see if this is worth the money?

Simple, if you are happy gaming at 1080, then it's not worth the money.
If you want to game at 2k, then it is worth the money.

think I am going to buy another 970 for SLI or wait for the red team to come out with something. From the looks of it a 970 SLI setup would kill this card.

Project Cars is only useful for comparing Nvidia cards. We all know it's crippled on AMD hardware. The same can be said for most of these tests. If your job was to cast the 1070 in a good light you've done it by selecting games that largely favor Nvidia save for being forced to use the only DX 12 game we have.

I thought Tomb Raider was DX12, not just Ashes.

According to other sites' reviews, the 1070 is putting out ~50% increase in FPS over the 970.

liking it so far. for the money, this is great bang for the buck. especially custom cards for $380 starting. gonna have to be some serious price drops for both teams to compete with this pricing.

now if amd can deliver on their similar performing card for $300, the world will be a great place to live in once again :D

I thought Tomb Raider was DX12, not just Ashes.
Tomb Raider had DirectX 12 patched in, and it's apparently a mess, offering worse performance than DirectX 11. Ashes of the Singularity and Hitman are pretty much the only DirectX 12 games out right now that aren't in beta, have a bad DirectX 12 mode like Rise of the Tomb Raider, or is simply a bad port eg. Quantum Break.

I would love to see 1080p charts added. A good reason is that most users are still on that resolution and it appears that the Pascal GPUs were designed with 4K resolutions in mind. Also, it would be helpful to see the GTX 970 (stock & overclock) and the R9 390 added to the charts as well. In addition, Witcher 3 is a good game to show, but newer more relevant titles some as Doom, would be very helpful.

1080p is a waste with either a 1080 or 1070. that's why it is not included. if you are only playing 1080p, then stick with a 970 or wait for the 1060 to show up whenever that is. it's not worth the time t test just to say "look at that big number". if you REALLY need them, look for 980ti/titan x 1080p numbers and add a few to that. oh wait there are few of them as well, since they are also WAY overkill for 1080p.

also keep in mind, this test was done at the show, not in their labs. They were likely very limited in time and space. A full review will be forthcoming with a 970 including and such as well as 1080p and more/different games. Theres a new WoW coming at the end of august. I'm sure that'll be included and Doom and others too.

Tell that to people who have Gsync monitors with 120-144Hz refresh cap. There should be a much bigger concentration of those among GTX970-1080/Titan owners than GTX960 or lower.

Personally, I'm waiting to see the 1050/1060 and R-460/470. If the high-end trend extends all the way to entry-level, everyone is getting roughly a two tiers bump.

I'll stick with my 680 lightning till 2019-2020, when whatever is after volta comes out. By then, dx12 will have settled on hardware and software, maybe 10nm gpus, and of course I'll be at my own place, with a job, and actually afford the latest and greatest :)
