[Nvidia] GeForce GTx 670 constant kernel crashing

Issue: This is a computer that I just built around a week ago, so everything is relatively fresh install. Since then, everything has been running smoothly, but roughly half a day ago I was playing Darksiders II when green patches appeared on the screen, artifacts occurred, then the kernel crashed and rebooted successfully. However, this appears to be happening quite often. I rolled back the system a day using System restore (Using windows 7), but the crashes still appear. These crashes were not occurring the past 2-3 other days I was playing the game.

Current Driver: 306.23
GPU temp at time of crash: 57 C

I tried updating to the 310 driver but that seemed to introduce the crashing issue more frequently. Any ideas on why this is happening all of a sudden?

Windows logs show the following:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
make sure your mb bios is up to date there a lot of bios code update for the new asus mb. make sure the onboard gpu is off and the mvp chipset is off and the software not installed to bond the intel ipgpu with your gpu. make sure the ram speed set to xmp and the bios speed set to standard. if it set to overclock it change the ram to cpu core from a 1:1 rate to a 1:5 rate. some system become unstable.
