I just want to ask since Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 TI has released and AMD Radeon HD 7990 is 489.99GBP to 539.99GBP. Which is better?

HD 7990 will produce more frames but you will come across games that dont support crossfire (7990 is internal crossfired card) and will produce frames that of a 7970.
But you need to step into a more lasting card, if you run at high resolutions and mods then getting a R9 290 might be the way to go as it has a larger memory bus then the 780ti with 4GB Vram.
If you can stretch your budget then 2x R9 290 will be a nice principle to go with.
If you are running at just 1080p then the 780 might be the better choice.

Others will gallop into this threat stating more.

Hi I am facing a similar problem. I'm building a pc soon, and cant decide on a graphics card. I dont look to game on higher than 1080p, want a lag free game(don't we all?) all bells and whistles tuned on and need it to last for a couple of years. My budget(for entire pc build is 1000-1500 bucks. Please help. ( Ive been leaning towards either the Radeon HD 7970 or GeForce GTX 780 Thanks.

Sorry for latness, just havent had the time. I would go with the GTX 780 as it is simply more powerful, thus should last longer. Keep in mind AMD has the R9 290 that should outperform it. If the R9 is you're route, then please wait for non reference models.
