Question Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 FE - Power cable(s)

Just wondering if I should power my GPU with 1 cable or 2? My PSU came with an 8pin cable that goes to 6+2 and then splits to another 6+2. should i use that or use two separate cables? Saw a thread about this topic but it was for a 1070. Just want to make sure a 2080 isn't different. This is my first build. Thanks for any help.

Which PSU do you have ? And, how many PCI-E cables come with it ? And how many PCI-E connectors does your GPU require, 6 pin + 8 pin ?

Btw, there are no separate 8-PIN PCI/PEG connectors, as they all come as a 6+2-PIN splitter cable.

EVGA G3 650w - It came with two different PCI-E cables. One has a single 6+2 and the other has (2) 6+2. The GPU requires 6pin + 8pin.

Yeah sorry about the lack of information. I've been researching this build for a few months now. Still pretty new to a lot of this stuff. Appreciate your help and patience.

You can use either of the 6+2-PIN cables,. You don't need a separate cable. IF your GPU requires one 6 pin + 8 pin, then use the 6-PIN in one slot, and the other 6+2 in another.

Yes, that would work, as both are the same PCI-e cable, IMO. I think your PSU comes with 3x PCIe connectors. Use the other one, (2) 6+2 to power up the GPU.

PS: I'm not fully sure though.

okay i know this will sound stupid, but what is the worst that will happen? it won't destroy my GPU will it?

Why will it destroy the GPU, if you are plugging both the 6 and 8-PIN cable to the GPU. It shouldn't.. There are 3 x 6+2-Pin power connectors on your GPU model.
