Just looking at the rumoured specs, that's what I'd expect... 2 extra billion transistors and about the same power implies those CUDA cores will be clocked high right off the gate to match or pass the 3090ti.

Not saying that's a bad thing, but a xx70 part at 400W is hardly breath taking when saying it'll beat the previous flagship at about the same power draw. Then again, this was the same with the 3070 and the 2080ti? They have about the same power draw, no?

If this is a $500 card, it will be a great deal. The 3090TI averages about 10fps higher at 4K than a 3080 12 GB, which you can get from around $730-$800 right now.

with only 12GB of memory, its hard to take this seriously. If I wanted only 12GB memory I would just get the 3060 12GB version. The main reason to get the 3090 (ti) is for the 24GB of memory for use with memory-intensive workloads. Otherwise, who cares what the 4070 can do.

I am yet to meet someone that actually owns a 3090ti!

I am waiting to see what happens to the price tag once 4xxx comes out, otherwise I would have already bought one.

Exactly. Not exactly impressive if its still pulling the same, or near, power as the 3090ti.
Nvidia and Intel both just keep pumping in more and more power and calling it "progress".

71% cores on a better node, using 88% of the energy and matching the performance. I think these clocks are way too high. It should, in theory, use less than 71% of the energy if clocks were the same, right? We leave Netburst behind, but it never leaves us...
