Nvidia gf 6200 compatability

Recently purchased GF 6200 512mb to upgrade from GF 4 MX440 64mb. The card fits OK and "new hardware" recognised it as such, but after installing drivers from supplied CD all I get are pyjama stripes from startup. I am running an older machine with a Gigabyte GA-8ST800 motherboard. Any clues or possible solutions?

Usually that means the card is no longer fully operational, I think you have a bad gpu.
