Hey guys I just finished a new build with an Asus Strix 1070. I’m curious if there is a performance difference between the default display driver that Windows 10 gives you and the most current driver straight from Nvidia?

Windows 10 isn't exactly perfect, it tends to source the drivers it thinks is best for your system. Often times it gives you the wrong drivers and then you start to wonder what's causing the flickers or sudden black screens. You should ideally install the latest drivers found off of Nvidia's support site.

Just to check, what are the rest of your specs? List them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:

Which version of Windows 10 are you on?

The system is-
i5 8600k
Asus Z370-i
Asus 1070 Strix
2x8 Dominator 3200
RMi 650
Samsung 850 evo
And CPU and GPU are on water in an old sleeper case

And Windows 10 is the newest update
