hello,

I've been having a problem with my NVIDIA drivers, I've wanted to update them but could not, it kept showing "the filename directory name syntax is incorrect" no matter which program I used to update it. I eventually uninstalled the graphics card from Device Manager, which did not fix the problem, it only created more.

Games now lag aggressively, which did not happen before, and the Nvidia GTX 1060 card is now renamed to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter on device manager, I've tried updating them after the uninstall but it kept showing the same error:

The laptop is Acer's Predator Helio 300.

For laptops you want to download the drivers from the laptop support site, not from Windows or from nVidia directly. If you still can't get them installed properly you can do a factory reset to get the original driver and Windows setup on the system again. Just make sure your files and programs are all backed up and ready to be copied and re-installed after the factory reset. Or contact Acer support and check with them about the issue before the factory reset if you want.
