NVIDIA GTX 580 not working. Help!

I have a GTX 580, i5 2500k, 8gb ram, 750 Watt PSU system running windows 7 that cannot play any video games. The problems all started last friday. I was playing BF3 and after 2 minutes of playtime my computer would freeze and reboot. I thought it was strictly a BF3 Problem, but the problem persisted while playing SC2 and ARMA II as well. When I run a benchmarking test, the program freezes and quits to desktop, and I get the error: "display driver has stopped responding and has recovered." I have downloaded the latest drivers for my MoBo and Grapics Card, and cleaned my case out. I don't know what else to do. Please, anybody, help! Thanks.

PSU, sounds 100% like a PSU issue
give us your PSU specs, PEAK SUSTAINED watts 12volt rail amps ect
but i will say right now im 99% sure that its your PSU

my psu is a CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply. Bought off of newegg.

I have a Galaxy 58NLH5HS3PXZ GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card. My PSU is a ORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply. I have been able to run pretty much all games fine on stock settings, without overclocking anything.

I also have a Corsair 750w PSU, the TX 80 PLUS version.

Most likely the stock voltage it came in as is too low for some reason. I would get MSI Afterburner or Nvidia Inspector and see what your current voltage and clocks are.

I have Nvidia Inspector, and right now the voltage is at .963 V.
The Current clock is at 51 MHz, Memory: 135 Mhz, Shader: 101 Mhz.
The GPU and Default Clock is at 772 Mhz, Memory: 2004 Mhz, Shader: 1544 Mhz. The Current Temp right now is 40 C which is a couple degrees higher than i normally see when it's idol.

The Max is 1.150V, and is set on 1.000 V right now

Mine came with a default voltage of 1.067v or something. Try upping it a couple of notches and see if that fixes the driver crashes. You should get a GPU monitoring program with an in-game overlay (I use EVGA precision) to always monitor your temps before doing this though.

Also, the "Display Driver stopped" problem is more related to a windows and drivers bug, when the PC freezes, is it followed by a BSOD?

Also, monitor your GPU temps.

Oh and since we have the same card I should probably share my OC mileage with you

At 1.067v 850mhz core 1700mhz shader is stable.
At 1.113v 910mhz core 1820mhz shader is stable.
At 1.15v it is stable somewhere around 930mhz core 1860mhz shader but I haven't done much testing here.

I just tried OC at 1.067 V, 850 Mhz, and this time during the benchmarking test the computer froze and went to a black screen, and I was forced to restart. I never have encountered a BSOD. I'm starting to think it is a software bug (This only started happening after playing BF3...) or a PSU issue, even though Corsair makes very reliable PSUs

Try out bunch of games and upgrade to the latest drivers

See if it's stable at stock clocks using 1.067v first before increasing the clocks at all. If it still is causing problems at 1.067v and stock clocks then something else is wrong.

On my GTX 580 I had to up the voltage to 1.025v for it to complete the Uningine Heaven benchmark. This is a common problem with the 580 unfortunately. It seems it occurs with dx 11 titles mainly.

edit- I have the Sparkle Calibre X580 with comes overclocked with an aftermarket cooler.

Alright, I increased the voltage without the clocks and still have problems. At least I know it's not a GPU issue. Probably a PSU issue. Thanks for your help man. Appreciate it.

Sure no problem What about your CPU, are you sure that's 100% stable? It might be a PSU issue with your particular PSU, because that 750w should be plenty. My lesser non bronze version handles my 130W i7 920 running at 1.38v and my gtx 580 at 1.13v no problem, and that's with 6 sticks of RAM an SSD and 2 HDDs.
