Well I have been thinking of buying a gaming laptop with a budget of max ₹65000. And all other features apart I would really like to know about the performance comparison of GTX 850m and Geforce 940m??

Since most models here in India provide these 2 GPUs under ₹65k for a laptop.

I would like to run games like crysis 3, bioshock infinite, COD advance warfare, far cry 3 and 4 at high settings.

Other features of the laptop may include 15" (1920x1080) screen + core i5 processor + 8gb Ram for the model with Geforce 940m.

And the same as above but a 1366x768 resolution screen for GTX 850m model laptop.

So please can you guide me for buying a laptop with a good GPU as above??

Solution
1> 850m is better than 940m
2> for those games and setting nope thats not gonna benefit you and its not gonna run newer titles you have a good budget you can even get a 980m latop
3> hd is not for any card less than the 960

Notebookcheck is an available resource for all things Notebook related (in the same way gsmarena is for phones). Hopefully Tom's doesn't mind external links :S

While this doesn't directly compare cards, you can quite easily check two models side by side and compare benchmarks. Though bear in mind Laptop GPU benchmarks are far more subjective than desktops as they can/are influenced by other factors in the specific model you are looking at (such as heat issues/clocking etc.), I would recommend you compare specific models of laptop rather than their GPU for a more accurate comparison.

In short, the GTX 850m is certainly a capable card for most modern games at high+ details at 1366x768. As was mentioned though, 1920*1080 is going to be pushing it in some titles.

Personal recommendation, don't oversize on the screen resolution if your card isn't up to snuff. You may think 'I'll just lower the resolution in game for the fps boost' but this tends to lead to a far bigger quality loss due to not matching the native pixel density.

I'm regretting my 2gb Geforce 770 GPU and a 1440p monitor for this very reason -.-

I am so sorry i misinterpreted your price range. no you cant get the 980s and 970s but yes you can get a good gpu laptop still
