Nvidia GTX 960 - not sure

I kind of expected the 960 to be a killer like the 970 and 980. I'm not impressed. With that said I also expected it to retail in the 260.00 mark. Perhaps we need a 965?

How do you all feel about it?

A new generation of cards from AMD could prompt a few changes to their line-up.
If they find a market need between the GTX 960 and the GTX 970, I would expect them to release a cut down GTX 970 as the GTX 960 Ti.

It's a capable card for it's price, but it only represents 2GB of VRAm and has kind of low hardware specs, but in benchmarks it does pretty well and squeezes ahead of the R9 280 sometimes.

The GTX 960 is sold as a replacement for the GTX 760. It is faster, uses less power and is cheaper than the GTX 760 was when it was released.
The GTX 970 was a replacement for the GTX 770 and ticked all the same boxes as above.
The fact that the GTX 960 is so close to the performance of the older GTX 770 or R9 280 is remarkable given it's price and power usage.

For 1920x1080 resolution with medium to high settings, the GTX 960 looks to be a very good card.
If you want higher detail settings, higher resolution, multiple monitors or performance over 60 FPS, you need to be looking at a more expensive card.

The 970 has a big performance gap, plus you get more VRAM and overall better hardware. Although the price for the GTX 970 is significantly higher, it is one of the best gaming cards for a budget.
