Hi,I have got the following build:

CPU- AMD FX 6300
MB- MSI 970A-G46
GPU- Zotac GTX 660
RAM- 8GB Corsair Vengeance
PSU- Corsair CX 500W

I would like to upgrade my GPU to a EVGA GTX 980 since I can play Witcher 3 in low only.

1)Should I update my CPU and Mobo too?and if yes then which as I would like to change it to Intel build then?

2)If I dont upgrade will it cause damage to my other components?

3)EVGA GTX 980 model is available in newegg and only basic models in my country(220V) are available from EVGA?So is that because different countries having different operating voltages?and should I buy from newegg?

Solution
It'll work. pcie2.0 or 3.0 won't make any difference.

The card will be supported by the case too. Yes - they are big. But they won't break the motherboard.
It'll work. But the FX6300 won't let it work as well as it could with an i7.

If you can afford it, get an i5 and compartible motherboard.

At the low end - i5 4460 and ASRock H97 Performance

high end - i5 4690k and ASRock z97 Extreme 4

US gets new products first. India is probably behind you. They are only just getting Haswell CPUs and GTX970s.

I want to change to Intel but already GTX 980 will be costly. So slowly I would. For now I just wanted to ask if my mobo is compatible with GTX 980 ,not sure about the PCI 2.0 and 3.0 part?and If such a heavy GPU will damage the mobo?
