I`ve noticed that there`s more and more people selling gtx 690`s at around 500$ and I am wondering how they compare to a gtx 980. I know the gtx 980 is slightly more expensive at around 550-650$ but is the gap in performance really worth the extra price?

690 Is a very old car, I would not buy it, it performs similar if worse than the 980, not to mention it will not work on non SLI Enabled applications. 980 would be a better bet, also I wouldn't recommend getting a second hand card, unless on a tight budget. 980 also supports newer functions such as MFAA, uses less power, thus quieter, and cooler. I would much rather get a 980, then maybe sli it later.

lol, no. 690 is not a better choice. Its two 680's stuck together with 2GB vram. You'll need to wait for SLI prifiles and some games never get one.

980 4GB is the way to go. Superior card in every way...
