All they need to do is slightly improve their current performance with a lower thermal output due to the process shrink and if they can ramp up the yeild it will be a winner ... notwithstanding drivers.

Leaked GTX 680 benchmarks show just 30/50% improvement over GTX 580. That's far from 200% necessary to be 3X speedier. GK110 is going to be 100% on best case.

Yeahh.. A GTX 680 would be 3x more faster than GT 440 or GTS 450..

Of course, rumors will help Nvidia so much. Next month, Nvidia will have to prove whether the early praise was justified or not.

Another rumor states that the GK104 will be out the 23rd of THIS month.

I smell BS... as pointed out above, just to put off ppl buying the AMD 7000 series, which was revolutionary in offering a decent performance bump at drastically reduced power requirements.

gk104, march 23 release date, gtx 680 although a faster single gpu kepler is slated for later this year, 190w tdp, x3300 3dmark 11 score, reportedly does worse on synthetic benchmarks which do not take into full account physix, $550

I'll believe it when I see it. I already bought an AMD 7950 and have no intention of replacing it. I do really want to see the competition in the GPU arena remain steady though.

It's a shame we waste so much power and money on sloppy console ports. I'd be more excited to see Nvidia open its own game studio to make games to promote high-end GPUs and its Tegra devices. Seeing another Epic tech demo does not interest me. The Samaritan tech demo has some really weak lighting although I am glad to see that the plastic-wrapped look is gone.

Holy crap people. Learn Math. The article says that the original "Samaritan" video ran on 3 GTX 580s. Now it runs an a single Kepler Chip. That is the implied 3x. I didn't it was true, I said learn math.

All i keep hearing from nvidia is bark but we have yet to see the bite that they claim. If this turns out to be another bulldozer with all of this hype around Kepler, then nvidia will be in a lot of trouble. This would be the worse then AMD's hype of bulldozer if Kepler doesn't live up to the hype nvidia is claiming with it's next gen gpu.

There's simply no way it'll be three times faster. We know Samaritan ran on 3 GTX 580's but we had no info about the fram rates, and how well it would run with just two of them.

Let's say it ran at 60 FPS with 3 GTX 580.
Then, even if Kepler is twice as fast as GTX 580, it can still run the demo at 30 FPS, which is reasonable.
And if you consider that FXAA is a lot lighter on the GPU, then the gap between Kepler and GTX 580 diminishes further.

And finally, for all we know, it could be a dual-GPU Kepler, like a GTX 690. Though that's unlikely.

But as much as I would love that to be true, there's no way it's 3 times faster than the GTX 580.

If the board is anything like the pictures that have been getting press lately it looks like if you water block the new Kepler GPU's that they won't be true single slot, kind of like how the mid high end range 6000 series were :/. And its ironic because AMD's 7000 series is now true single slot if you water block it where as Nvidia's current 500 series are single slot if you water block them lol.

Other than that if you're an enthusiasts who doesn't plan on water blocking the upcoming GPU's, here's hoping they'll be great!
