Oké, so I have an AMD system with the fx8350 @ 4,7ghz.

I was planning for a new videocard and really like the New nvidia gtx 970.

But in my head I cant think about an error free system combined with AMD and NVIDIA. So then the only solution would be a r9 290x with older architecture.

for me it is Intel+nvidia or AMD+AMD/ATI.

please tell me what to do

You'll be find with an NVIDIA GPU with that motherboard and processor.

A 970 will work fine with an 8350.

The 290 and 290X are obsolete. Go for the 970.

It's really up to personal opinion whether or not it would work. Yes, it will work without any problems, frankly I don't see how you would notice any difference between an Nvidia card in the system over an AMD one.

It will work fine. The drivers aren't going to conflict.

Just like I, frag and inerax have said, it will work just fine. I have a friend who's had a gaming pc for a little over 2-3 years with an i5 and an AMD gpu, he hasn't had a single problem with combining the two.

Thanks for all the answers. but then again what would be the better choise? Cus the R9 290x also got a price drop to around 300€. So almost same as the gtx 970

The 970. It consumes less power, produces much less heat and as a result it is quieter.

The 290X is obsolete because of the 970.

Typically it should all work fine...

But your assertion does have its merits - mostly applies to older motherboards.

The problems are that if you have a Nvidia chip-set and onboard NVideo it best to install NVidia, I used a Ati Card in this set up and during boot had a black screen until windows loaded - mind you it was using the HMDI port into a LED TV which could of also being a factor....

But moving the Same GFX Card into a Intel chipset MB did not have this issue and performance was 14% better on a lower spec machine.

It's the Chipset that not the Actual Processor that is the deciding factor for hardware.

Specialized Chipsets support different GFX features on both Nvidia and ATI using a Card the better supports Chipsets is just smart math.

But now with GPU on CPU's it makes sense to conform to what architecture its using as a base to what will be better suited and what will likely preform without issues

Exactly what you describe above. That is my experience with my old system. And thats why I was asking this.

But if I understand correct my Sabertooth fx990 r2 with fx8350 wont perform less or more with AMD gpu nor Nvidia gpu?
