nVidia Maxwell support

As the title suggests, how long can I reasonably expect nvidia to support the 900 series before there is a significant frop in expected performance?

With that in mind if I was to get a 970 or 980, how long before I should consider upgrading?

970 or 980 should be good for a fair while

all depends what games you want to play and at what resolution and how high settings

1080p with a minimum of high/v.high would do nicely. How long before I should consider upgrading, 18 months?

guess that will depend what new games come out and what dx12 brings

but at only 1080p i would have thought a fair bit more than 18 months

no problem

its only my opinion obviously but the 970 and 980 are powerful cards and you arent at a high resolution so cant see any obvious fault with my reasoning

i am on overclocked 970 at 1440p and intend to use this card for at least 2 years
