Hi,

I will be upgrading my PC to the following:

E7500 Core 2 Duo 2.93 Ghz
XFX nforce 750i SLI
3GB DDR 2 800 Mhz
500 GB SATA HD

Now please suggest me a graphic card (GTX 260 Core 216 or HD 5770) for playing all games at Max settings on a 17" Monitor (1440*900).
Which of these cards would be better performance wise?

Ok for now I'll just purchase a single HD 5770. But I'll make sure that I get another one of these cards for future gaming. Will that be ok?
and one more thing, will my processor bottleneck this card. Its a E7500 Core 2 duo 2.93 Ghz. Please reply ASAP.

Unfortunately the Core iX series do not support DDR2. If you want to upgrade your CPU I suggest you try the Core 2 Quad Q8400, if you can afford it the Q9400, and if you live near a Micro Center, a Q9550 for $169.99 pickup.

EDIT: Temporary brain lapse, the Core iX series do in fact support DDR3.

No,for 1440x900 you won't need another 5770,its a waste.
And as for CPU,if you don't want to change your motherboard, then upgrade your CPU to a Q9550(if your budget allows) or a Q8400

Not on your mobo. You have a SLI-chipset board, so you can run a pair of nVidia cards, but you cannot use a pair of ATi cards in Crossfire.
Considering that SLI chipsets have a reputation for instability, that is NOT a recommendation away from the HD5770. At your resolution, you do not need multiple GPUs. If you want to invest money on improvements, you're looking at CPU+mobo+DDR3 RAM. Otherwise, as anort3 said, there are good reasons to prefer the HD5770 over the GTX260.
What PSU do you have? Make sure it is up to powering your new card.
