Nvidia Pascal series questions

So im looking forward to upgrading my gtx 760 4gb in the near future and I guessed that my best bet would be to wait for the new upcoming series of gpus. But I had a couple questions about this. If the gap between Maxwell and Pascal is so significant, will this mean we will have a nice futureproof, or are video games going to improve their graphics aswell, leaving consoles in shame? There will be computing and gaming cards if im not mistaken, so, for the gaming ones, will we need to upgrade our motherboards to have support for them? And having the answer to that question in mind, which should be the budget for this upgrade?

It's too soon to speculate. Those number are just prediction. AFAIK from pascal they will implement GDDR5X HBM. HBM can significantly incerase performance (look on AMD Fury X), but still 980ti cant compete with the Fury X (just an example). Upgrading to 970 from 760 are still worth. You can tun those card on high setting 1080p in next few year. Except you want to wait for Pascal to release (Mid 2016 maybe) it's up to you

First let get you one thing straight- GAMES WILL BE MORE DEMANDING IN THE FUTURE, ESPECIALLY GRAPHICALLY!!!!
If you want to enjoy proper 4K gaming your pocket should be deep, very deep....I would bet like around $1500+ USD for the GTX 1080 with 16 GB HBM-2.... If you are having a high-end Z170 or X99 MoBo it will most probably support PASCAL.... E. g Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming G1 EATX LGA1151 Motherboard OR Asus RAMPAGE V EXTREME/U3 EATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard....
I would suggest going for at least the GTX 1070 or GTX 1060 which is expected to have 8 GB HBM-2 OR 4 GB HBM-2.
My suggesting budget would be in betwen $700-$1500 USD!!

Another thing I want to get straight is that the 1000 series wont be Maxwell-Refresh GPUs since the 900-series are already Maxwell-Refresh GPUs!!

Since I work at AMD, I already know the release date of the R9 490X... Which will revolutionize gaming performance...
