Hope someone can help.
I have a T61 with an advanced docking station and was looking to get a card for running a couple of high res monitors. I thought the NVS 450 would do the job (overkill maybe but low power consumption spec and passive cooling are good and I found a v.good deal) but am now confused.
According to the nvidia and pny websites the power requirements for the nvs 450 are 34watts. But, according to other websites selling the card and a thread on here there is a quoted power supply requirement for the system of 350watts.
The power supply in the docking station is nowhere near that, and the maximum power the PCI-e bus can supply is 50watts-ish
Am I missing something about how quoted specs actually perform in the real world? Is anyone able to explain what I should be looking for?
And if the above isn't going to work suggestions would be most welcome.
Cheers
