RT cores are supposed to be very fast at ray tracing, but this raises so many questions from me.

According to wcctech, "A single RTX 2080 Ti is 10x faster than a 1080 Ti in AI and 6x faster than a 1080 Ti in ray tracing"
If this new technology offers 6 times the ray tracing speed, why is it not implemented into 3D rendering softwares? Better yet, why not make a "ray tracing card" that contains purely RT cores and acts as an expansion card that is used in addition to a graphics card? It is obviously more cost efficient than CUDA cores since a 2070 offers 6 gigaray/second, while a similarily priced 1080 only has around 1 gigaray/second.

RT cores are absolutely deadly in 3D animation and rendering. This new technology just seems like a godsent for 3D animators.

As amazing the performance looks, why is it not being implemented into applications such as Maya or Blender? Marketing it as something for gaming just seems like wasting its potential.

As with any new hardware it will take time for the software to catch on and use it. Intels QuickSync came out and was faster than anything at encoding videos but it took a while for software to utilize it.

nVidia also has to be the one to help push it. They have a better understanding of the hardware and typically they would work and provide the tools and support necessary for companies to add it for utilization in their software.
