With how flawed the 12VHPWR connector has proven, who's going to take a chance? Someone would have to be a masochist to gamble with 4090s at this stage, lol. 12v-2x6 connectors will come standard with the super/ti variants, rumored to be coming out soon anyway.
I have no clue if this design was about cost-cutting, but it should've never been given the green light in the first place. Companies need to be held accountable, as there's no way in hell they thoroughly tested these connectors with a decent enough sample size to make an accurate, final assessment. Corsair didn't adopt it; why? They must have known something. Personally, I feel being a beta tester with unproven tech is always worth taking the back seat, and to those who were duped into being guinea pigs, both on the GPU and PSU side, let this be a harsh lesson. You've not only got a paper weight if you have an ATX 3.0 PSU that comes with the native 12VHPWR connector, but you also have a future home insurance claim loading.
