With the real 5050 soon to masquerade as a steaming POS called the 5060, one can only watch in horror what the real 5040 trash tier garbage 5050 will be like. 64 bit bus and 16MB L2 cache for sure.

Why would you? What would be nice is if they made a 75W model with 8 GB instead of 6 GB this time around.

I can just picture the office meetings about these GPUs.

Employee 1 - Let's just make GPUs that are even worse than what we have just put out. These cards will then make the 5080s and 5090s seem like pure magic.

I want to see what all three companies release this generation, e.g. RX 9040 vs. B380 vs. RTX 5050. And I'm in no particular hurry.
