I actually do have a legitimate question, that will hopefully help resolve my problem.

I know the 7900GTX is far better than the 7900GT, but in what programs and in what way will someone notice the difference?

Im basically trying to decide if its worth the extra $$200 ish, assuming there are any in stock.

This may be a newb question but please help me out as you can see this is only my 2nd post

The 7900 GTX has higher clockspeeds than the 7900 GT, that's all.

You will notice it only when in 3d games such as FEAR, BF2, etc.,; the GTX should be able to play with fluid framerates one or two steps in resolution above a 7900GT with similar settings...

As to wether that is *worth* $200 more, is another question, as the 7900GT is a pretty nice "upper-mid range" card for $299....

No, the ram is just rated higher. However, a few mhz in memory speed doesn't make up for the 200+$ price tag. Just get a 7900gt and overclock the core speed, and the difference will be negligible.

More than likely, either card will run all your games at max settings. Then some day, as new games have more MAX to their settings, the GT will show its age a bit sooner than the GTX.

If you are into competition lan parties, the GTX could give you an advantage over your opponents.

I myself, went with an ATI X1800XL ($320) instead of the 1800XT or 1900XT because I couldn't see enough value from the additional $200+ the other cards would have cost. So if your goal is to enjoy your games, I'd go ahead and get the GT.
