Nvidia shadowplay recording won't pick up mic audio but live streaming does.

When I was doing a live gameplay commentary the mic wasn't working the entire time of the video. After that happened, I decided to live stream and my mic was working just fine. All I have to say is... WAT

i had this issue with it using my webcam mic instead of my headset mic, have you checked in your recording devices? make sure your mic is set as default communications AND default device, it might be windows rather than shadowplay.
