Nvidia shield game streaming / network problems

So I have just bought a Nvidia shield tab. Really looking forward to being able to game a little in my downtime at work..

So heres the problem I can get game streaming to work over my home network.

However on efforts to remote stream. I get a message stating PC is off line may take minutes to connect.

then unable to connect to PC.

My home WiFi router is only single band. but my PC is wired to the router, and wired to the modem
Am i right in thinking this is not a single band vs dual band router issue.
(nvidia support suggested this)

would connecting PC directly to modem be a better option?

any suggestions
